One of the Best Nights

For lunch on Friday, Stesha and I went to Noodles and Company.
We were given a number for our order.
I got a laugh out of it.

More birthday goodies came in the mail:

a card from my Aunt and Uncle
and a card from Trinity and Chelsie

...and the package from my boyfriend arrived!

woowoo

now all I need is a sailboat

I spent a chunk of the afternoon skyping with my parents
(Dad is hiding on the side)

I went for a 3 mile run followed by a 2 mile walk.
I ran into a gaggle of geese and accidentally led them into the street which caused a traffic jam.

I spent the rest of Friday's evening doing everything BUT studying.
I went to the grocery, vacuumed, did laundry, dusted...etc.
I didn't get any Patho done.

I woke up Saturday morning on a mission to read a chapter on GI disorders.
I finished the chapter and had to time to go on a 3 mile walk before getting ready for the night.

It was a pretty dreary day.

It started to pour right after my walk. I'm glad I didn't get caught in it.
I picked up Stesha and Erika on the way to Raleigh.
We made our way into downtown and picked out a diner to eat at.
This wasn't a normal diner. Just about everything on the menu was VEGAN friendly and gluten free. I have nothing against these things, I just wasn't used to this kind of diner. I wanted a big juicy burger and some fries. hah!

The doors at the Pour House were supposed to open at 8 PM...sadly, this did not happen.
We waited outside for 30 minutes in the freezing cold rain.

I was still happy to be there.

You see, I was really excited to meet one of my YouTube idols: Julia Sheer.

Julia and I

I had a chance to talk to her before and after the show. She is one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Julia performed with someone who was new to me: Matthew Mcginn

I think they make a really great pair on the stage and his music is amazing.
The crazy thing is, in between songs, he mentioned me and pointed at me...haha
I had "tweeted" (if you don't understand twitter...google it) that I would be going to dinner and then seeing these two perform. I had tagged them in this message and they had read it. This is how he knew my name. It made me laugh and I got embarrassed ...and I turned red.
All in all, it was one of the best nights of my life. I would say in the top ten.
How often do you get to meet one of your favorite singers?

Here are some vids I shot:

The second band to perform was Honor by August. These guys are incredible.

I spent a good chunk of Sunday getting ready to take the Patho exam.

The Patho exam did get done and it was time to play.

Stesha and I went to Sushi Love and then watched a movie at my place.

I slept in this morning without a care in the world....ah....it felt great!

I decided to be productive a couple of hours later.
I went for a walk.

Grabbed dinner at Panera.

Went on an adventure to Home Depot to get some Duraflame Logs.
Got a fire going.

...and worked on my Plan of Care assignment with Stesha.

It is time to pass out =)

I'm 24!

I slept in on my birthday. I was making breakfast when I noticed a playful squirrel in the tree right outside of the window. I quickly grabbed my camera and began shooting. I'm pretty disappointed in the fact that I haven't taken a lot of nature pics. I really want to get out and explore more of North Carolina while I'm here.
For now, the squirrel will have to do.

I had a list of school things I needed to get done, but honestly planned to only do my GI cases for Patho.

While I was in the middle of those, Stesha called me. She would be taking me out to dinner for my birthday!!!
I had a couple of hours...so I went for a run!

More birthday goodies began to make their way to me =)

More have arrived since this pic was taken. Give me time and I'll post more pics.

There was an Italian place I had been dying to try since I saw it across the way from Rockfish a couple of weeks ago.
Maggiano's!

It was pretty fancy and our waiter was really nice. If you have parties larger than 4, you get served family style.

Stesha's meal

my meal

The truth is, by the time our food arrived, we were STUFFED with bread and salad...

We finished up the night with some ice cream and a movie at my place.
It was a pretty dang good birthday.

Tuesday's Intro to Nursing class was spent discussing the benefits of cocoa with heart disease.
....so we got chocolate...hahahaha

We practiced giving enemas in flex lab

Forgive me, for I skipped my first class =/
well, part of it
I stayed for 1 of the 3 hours of patho. I really wanted to get a walk in before I began studying for my N203 exam that was the next day.
Priorities. hah!

I saw some Canadian Geese:

I moved my "desk" outdoors for the study session.

The weather has been AMAZING this past week. It makes me feel better. The winter can get a bit depressing.
I noticed a lot of Robins flying around my deck, so I grabbed the camera and set it next to me.
In between studying/breaks I got some pics.

Alley really wanted to "play" with the birds.

Wednesday morning came and it was time for my N203 exam.
75 questions
1 hr and 15 min to complete it
1 minute per question
Luckily, I'm a pretty quick test taker, but it still took me just about an hour. Quite a few didn't finish and the teacher may do something about it. The thing is, they are trying to prepare us for the NCLEX....where you get about a minute per question.

We had a day of lecture about Med Administration and I find it interesting.
Yes, it's a bit scary. I don't want to kill someone by making a dumb mistake.

Stesha and I had lunch in the middle of campus and I got to see some new flowers!

I came home and walked.
I checked out the woods behind my place and found this pipe with graffiti on it.

...and part of an old car rusting away

Today in lab we practiced the 6 rights of med administration. We were given different scenarios and patients to prepare and give meds to.

Stesha and I went to lunch at Twisted Noodles which resulted in a food coma. I came home and napped for around 2 hours. I woke up to a phone call from Lance! I hadn't heard his voice in a couple of days and was missing him terribly. Ah, the little things in life.

I got my butt up and went for a walk.

I am currently watching Duke play Arizona. I should have been asleep an hour ago to get 8 hours of sleep in. This is why I needed that nap. It's worth it!
Come on Duke!

I've got a weekend full of Patho studying to do.
I am planning on taking a break to see my FAVORITE youtube singer.
This girl is amazing and I am so excited she will be performing this weekend in Raleigh.
