On Monday, I went grocery shopping after class. We had a short lecture that got out 3 hours early, at 10 AM. I tried some of the prepared foods that Target offers. I bought a spicy california roll, grilled chicken ceasar salad, and a turkey & cheese sandwich.
I went ahead and had the spicy california roll for lunch. I enjoyed it.
I then had a looooong afternoon of reading the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
All 118 pages.
We had a disaster nursing lecture in Community Health on Tuesday morning. A guy came in and talked to us about his adventures of driving into a hurricane to help people in need. Not for me.
During my first break between classes, I met with my research group to finalize our first assignment. We got it done within about 45 minutes and then I enjoyed the salad I bought the previous day.
We met for Senior Seminar an hour early because we had a lot to go over. It is normally a 1 hour lecture starting at 1, but we met at noon. We discussed in depth all the assignments we have due this semester. I feel like there is a lot of work in this class for it only being a 1 hour credit. I understand what we are doing in there is really important, but it should be a 3 hour credit.
I came home after class at 2 and relaxed before my 6 pm Honduras class.
I got to video chat with my parents and see Alley get her new bed. Notice her in the pic.
I found this on the internet:
I wonder about this every day.
We practiced more body parts in Spanish and went over the Honduran culture.
I slept in Wednesday and then went for a run.
Winter in Durham is sepia-like.
I received some gorgeous flowers in the mail from my parents for Valentine's Day.
I love them (my parents and the flowers)!
Day 1
I had my second Well Elder visit on Thursday.
It lasted for about 2 hours and then I headed back home.
I went for a jog/walk.
I met up with Stesha for dinner at Noodles and Company.
I got to catch up with Katie on her birthday. We got to chat on the phone for quite some time and she thanked me for the flowers I sent her.
The Big 2-5. I'll be there next month.
I had to type up paperwork for my Well Elder visit and then I hit the sack.
5:30 AM wake up call on Friday.
The drive to clinical was pleasant and NOT RAINING like it was last week. I watched the sun rise over the lake and it was beautiful. I have really enjoyed my Gero clinical experience. I find myself looking forward to getting there (minus the early morning rise) and seeing my patient.
Next Friday is my last day and I will be sad =(
Day 2
We got out of clinical early enough for me to catch the sunset. I was driving and it was hard to see what I was shooting, but here are 2 pics...you can kind of see the lake.
Saturday was dedicated to writing the first part of my Nurse Practice Act paper. Then I searched for a couple of research articles for my group's topic. I cleaned my townhouse from top to bottom and then watched a lecture for my diabetes class. I got a lot done.
Day 3
Today I allowed myself to relax a bit. The only thing on my agenda was to fill out my gero clinical evaluation that is due on Tuesday, run, and make it to a Super Bowl party. Pretty nice I'd say.
I ordered pizza online knowing that having pizza delivered on Super Bowl Sunday would be impossible.
I put in my order and showed up 10 minutes after they said it would be ready.
I stood in line for 20 minutes and then made it to the counter, where they continued to bring me pizzas that did not belong to me. It was a nightmare.
30 minutes later, I was out of there and heading to my destination.
I had to laugh at Garrett's townhouse.
He better enjoy this while he is a bachelor because I don't think any woman would allow this on the living room walls.
I had a great time and enjoyed meeting Garrett's friends from business school.
In case you didn't know: Garrett is Stesha's boyfriend.
Other things that are going on:
1.We are now down to the less than 100 days until I graduate. Yep! 98 to be exact.
2. I have applied for 4 jobs! eek! I started last Sunday with 2 applications and then applied for 2 more on Monday night. Three of them are graduate nurse residency programs and the other is a labor and delivery unit at Texas Children's Hospital. That one is a long shot, but I figure I should get my resume out there.
3. I have been busting my butt studying and getting assignments done. I am now working on Week 5 junk.
4. I get to see my parents AND my boyfriend next week.
5. I leave for Honduras next month
That is all.
I'm sorry I don't update as often as I used to, but I'm having a hard time finding the time.
