It was my first day back at DUSON and things were in full swing.
Whatever happened to syllabus week?
Like they told us, we hit the ground running.
We had a "fun" filled day of adult health clinical prep.
8AM-4PM
We sat in our clinical groups and I ran with them the whole day. We began with an orientation for the course and reviewed the 6 rights of Med Admin. Then the class was split into 3 groups and we rotated throughout the day to different rooms. In the first room, we went over the syllabus and expectations for the class.
Following that, we had lunch.

After lunch, we headed upstairs to the CND (center for nursing discovery).
Juan Carlos was still on vacation.

My group was in our second room and we spent the time looking up drugs our hypothetical patient was on. Once we knew the purpose the drug was given along with dose, route etc, we drew up the meds and showed the CI. The process took around an hour and 15 minutes. The CI promised we would be able to do this in about 15 minutes by the end of the semester.
Our group's CI wasn't actually here today and he won't be for 2 weeks. He is getting hitched this weekend and then going on a honeymoon to Spain! Lucky guy. Thus, we don't start our adult health clinical for another 2 weeks. My group ia lucky enough to start our mental health clinical next Monday.
In the last room of the day, we were split into 3 more mini groups.
At the first module we practiced setting up the IV pump and going over various scenarios.
The next was on central lines.
...and finally...we practiced changing IV dressings.
I went from school to the grocery and now I have fresh food!
My very first Littmann stethoscope was waiting for me at the front door.
Isn't she beautiful?
I hadn't ran since I left 2 weeks ago and I was itching to get out there.
I switched from running to walking throughout the time.
I just finished reading 3 chapters in my mental health book and watched an online lecture that was around 30 minutes to prepare for one of tomorrow's classes.
I have Pharmacology from 8-11:30
Mental Health from 12:15-3:10
and Health Promotion from 3:30-7
8AM-7PM
is it Sunday yet?
