Sickness

The week got off to a rocky start...and went uphill from there.
I began to feel a bit under the weather...scratchy throat/a bit fatigued.

We had our last guest come and visit us during lunch.
Food was provided =)

The speaker was talking about diversity and right when he got to the part about respect...I had to get up and walk out to go to flex lab. Talk about bad timing. I waited until he turned around to head out.
We got a chance to practice catheter insertion during flex lab. I ended up getting in one of the beds and resting. Even the teacher noticed something was off with me.
My symptoms got worse as the day went on.

We got our grades back from our Fundamentals exam last week. I managed a solid "A" and I was in a GREAT mood...
That's until Patho. Our professors walked in and gave us a "talking to".
Apparently there have been some issues with plagiarism on the case studies...AND the exams.
I understand that they were "appalled and disgusted", but there was no need to treat the ENTIRE class like children. It felt like they were punishing all of us.

So I went from feeling on top of the world...to miserable/pissed/frustrated.

I went to Noodles and Company for dinner with Stesha.

Our # this time: Lucky 13 =/

I tried something new

I went right to the store and got some dayquil/nightquil and some throat lozenges.

The next day I awoke with a VERY sore throat and I couldn't really swallow.
I made it to class to take our first proctored ATI exam.
I scored a level 2 (the highest is a 3)...which I think means I have a 94% chance of passing that portion of the NCLEX.
The rest of the day we learned about electrolytes and IV stuff.

I've been on a thriller kick. I've been watching a ton of them in my spare time.

I watched "Exam". It reminded me of the Saw movies, but there is no blood and guts....and people aren't told to kill others or anything. Just the fact that 8 people are put in a room to take an exam...and there are certain rules reminded me of it.

The next day, my throat was feeling a bit better. My nose was beginning to stop up.
In lab we had catheter check offs and I passed! yay

Next, we learned how to draw up meds into a syringe.

By Friday, my voice was beginning to sound horrific.
I sounded like a dying cow.

For the past couple of weeks I kept passing this driving range.
I snapped a shot for Lance.

So not only was Friday April Fools, it was also Lance and I's 3 month anniversary.
We had a conversation a long ways back about how he believed 3 months isn't a big deal...well, not really any anniversary other than 6 months/year/2 year etc. is a big deal.
I on the other hand disagreed.
So back in February when our one month rolled around, he called me and said it.
You know, the "happy one month". This was said after he tried to get me to say it and preceded the comment with "are you going to make me say it?".
Ever since there has been a "game" of who is going to say it or mention it. Well, that's how I see it.

So after a long day of clinical, I came home to these beauties:

I couldn't wipe the dang smile off of my face for probably 30 minutes.
It made my day and ended the week on a great note.
I'm very lucky to have this man in my life =)

I boiled some hot water and breathed in the steam to help out my stopped up nose.

I went to bed and attempted to sleep in.
I woke up several times during the night coughing. Between that and not being able to breathe out of my nose...I was in hell.

Stesha came over and we watched the whole series of Harper's Island.

It's a tv series that only had one season back in 2009. It was only meant to have 13 episodes. It was just what I needed. This took my mind off of all the stress and sickness one girl could take.

the flowers on Day 2

Stesha and I decided to go to Target to get some desserts and I got some cough medicine and nose spray.
I was like a whole new woman!
I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 10 AM. The meds can only be taken every 12 hours and they had worn off. I was coughing and my nose was stopped up. I took some meds and crashed again until 2:30. It felt so good to get some deep sleep.

Flowers on Day 3

Here are my two trashcans at this point:

I got a lot of school work done today while I watched the Rangers play some baseball and the Duke LAX team.
The Rangers won, but my Blue Devils lost =(
