I had a snuggle buddy last night.
For now, she'll have to do.
Knowing I had to get up way too early, I tried to get to bed at a decent hour (midnight).
I should have gone to bed earlier, but I got sucked into The Real Housewives of Atlanta once again. I'm hoping school kicks my habit of trash TV.
It's a guilty pleasure, but it makes me unwind and feel good.
The alarm sounded and I rolled over.
"Time to get ready for the first day of my 16 month journey to become a nurse" I tell myself.
I tried my best to get everything ready last night so I wouldn't have a hard time getting ready this morning.
I'm in a new home and it was a little different, but I'll get used to it.
I ran downstairs and headed out the door.
I drove to class without my GPS and parked in the Clinic Parking Garage as we were instructed.
I sat in the car for about 10 minutes because I was a bit early.
I forgot to have my Mom take a dorky "first day of class" photo...so I took one myself.
I decided to bite the bullet and headed out towards the nursing building.
We were shuffled into the front entry way to wait in line to get our folders.
and pen...(We are up to two pens now)
The first item on the list: get our photos taken for our IDs!
We got to relax in the common area and I ran into a guy I met during my interview. He was sitting with a group of girls that I recognized from the facebook group our class has. I grabbed a chair and introduced myself.
I'm really glad I sat down with this group because a lot of the girls seem like my type of people.
We chatted the 15 minute walk to another building.
We were served a continental breakfast(I didn't fling any fruit on the ground this time) and sat down in the auditorium.
I stared at this itinerary for the majority of the day:
There were several people from several departments that came and talked to us in 10-15 minute presentations. It was like any orientation: long, drawn out, and my butt went numb from sitting so long.
That lasted from around 9-12:45
Then we were served lunch from Jason's Deli and it was just what I needed to get my energy back up.
They ran out of seats in the common area so they opened up a small room with an oval table for some of us to sit in.
I got to meet 6 more people and they are all so different and interesting. I love meeting people from different places and different backgrounds.
At 2, we had an IT laptop clinic..."thing".
Yes, "thing" is what I will call it.
I don't really know what the objective was here because so much went wrong.
Imagine 3 people trying to help a full room of students with computer problems.
ahhhhhh....
After I got my DHE account set up, I was out that door.
I remembered that they needed us to get another TB test.
I really don't know why...we all got our TB tests done in October and now they want us to get one again.
Oh well, I headed down the hall and got pricked with a needle and headed back home.
It snowed on me as I walked to my car. It was a nice way to come home.
I relaxed a bit once I got home and then the snow began to fall a bit harder.
Orientation Day #2 may be delayed tomorrow.
Here is a video of the drive to Durham and my first couple of days here.
There aren't really any significant clips here. Mainly just my cat, me sleeping, and some snow.
